If you don’t have health insurance: How much you’ll pay

If you can afford health insurance but choose not to buy it, you must pay a fee called the individual shared responsibility payment. (The fee is sometimes called the "penalty," "fine," or "individual mandate.") The government will determine if you can afford!

·        You owe the fee for any month you, your spouse, or your tax dependents don’t have qualifying health coverage (sometimes called "minimum essential coverage"). See all insurance types that qualify. The government determines the Types.

·        You pay the fee when you file your federal tax return for the year you don’t have coverage. If you do not calculate your tax early in the year watch for your April 15 surprise. They will tell you what you should have paid.

·        In some cases, you may qualify for a health coverage exemption from the requirement to have insurance. If you qualify, you won’t have to pay the fee. Learn about health coverage exemptions.

If you're covered by any of the following types of plans, you're considered covered under the health care law and don't have to pay a penalty.

·        Any health plan bought through the Health Insurance Marketplace

·        Individual health plans bought outside the Health Insurance Marketplace, if they meet the standards for qualified health plans

·        Any “grandfathered” individual insurance plan you’ve had since March 23, 2010 or earlier

·        Any job-based plan, including retiree plans and COBRA coverage

·        Medicare Part A or Part C (but Part B coverage by itself doesn’t qualify)

·        Most Medicaid coverage, except for limited coverage plans

·        The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

·        Coverage under a parent’s plan

·        Most student health plans (check with your school to see if the plan counts as qualifying health coverage)

·        Health coverage for Peace Corps volunteers

·        Certain types of veterans health coverage through the Department of Veterans Affairs

·        Most TRICARE plans

·        Department of Defense Nonappropriated Fund Health Benefits Program

Health plans that don't count as coverage

Some products that help pay for medical services don't qualify. If you have only this kind of product, you may have to pay the fee. Examples include:

The fee for not having health insurance in 2016 & 2017

The fee is calculated 2 different ways – as a percentage of your household income, and per person. You’ll pay whichever is higher.

Percentage of income

·        2.5% of household income;  (.025 x $1000 =$25) or a $50,000 income >> $1,250

·        Maximum: Total yearly premium for the national average price of a Bronze plan sold through the Marketplace

Per person

·        $695 per adult

·        $347.50 per child under 18

·        Maximum: $2,085

Paying the fee

·        Using the percentage method, only the part of your household income that’s above the yearly tax filing requirement is counted.

·        Using the per-person method, you pay only for people in your household who don’t have insurance coverage.

If I'm unemployed, do I have to pay the fee?

It depends on your household income. If insurance is unaffordable to you based on your income, you may qualify for an exemption from the fee. Other exemptions are based on low income too. Learn more about exemptions and how to claim them.

Any plan that meets the standards for qualifying health coverage counts under the health care law. If it does, you won't have to pay the fee. This is where the Little Sisters of the poor were punished. Why must you pay for birth care if you do not want it?

You can buy qualifying health coverage directly from an insurance company, from an online seller, or through an agent or broker. But the government has set the rules.

Before you buy, be sure to find out if the plan you’re interested in qualifies.

In West Virginia there is a political battle of 'Right To Work'.
This battle has been fought in many states. Right To Work, in a simplified view, is that a worker does not need to be a union member or pay union dues to remain an employee. The unions fight that because it will weaken their positions in negotiations with corporate management.

It is legitimate and factual that unions have improved employee working conditions, wages, protections against crony or favoritism, as well as many other wrongs delivered on employees. Over the years many of the wrongs inflicted on the employees have been codified against by States and the Federal government.  Even blood has been shed to improve conditions and rights of employees. The good conditions wage and protections earned by the unions have given our citizens a society with many benefits and preserved rights. Liberals have long supported the rights of working people.

The apposite side of the coin is the wrongs unions have visited upon fellow members and society. Many conservatives will support the theory that a worker should not be required to a union member. Some of the problems are; forced payment of dues, dues used to support political campaigns, dues spent on causes that are beyond the desire or belief of the member employees.

Conservatives appreciate the society improvement brought on by union efforts.The major concern, by many Conservatives, is that union dues, working conditions, benefit costs, are passed along as taxes. In our pressure to control Municipal, County, Federal taxation  we get dragged into anti-union positions. The seven year old Affordable Care Act (Obama Care)  joined the view when health care premiums escalated.  Negotiations by public employees and their objection to mandatory contributions to their health care premiums. Another focus are the retirement plans which are a burden to State Budgets. 

Conservatives must recognize Working Condition Improvements beyond the 'sweat shop days.  Union employees need to recognize that increased taxation to citizens beyond their collegium are bearing the taxation burdens.

When do actions by Town Councils, County Freeholder Boards, State and Federal Legislatures march beyond protection of the citizenry and their ability to support violate reason?

Democrat Mythology

Contrary to their mythmaking, Democrats have a long history of oppressing black Americans. Today concludes Black History Month. But for Democrats, February, once again, has been Black Amnesia Month. Members of the party that claims to be the best friend of the black man do their very best to entomb their misdeeds, injustices, and crimes against blacks in an Orwellian memory hole. Here are just a few of the ugly things that Democrats have done to blacks, and hope no one will remember:

The Democratic party supported slavery from its inception in the 1830s until it split over the issue in 1860. In January 1865, 100 percent of House Republicans supported the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery. Among those who voted, 78 percent of House Democrats opposed abolition.

Democrats Horatio Seymour and Francis Blair ran for president and vice president in 1868 on this general-election campaign slogan: “This is a white man’s country: Let white men rule.”;

Democratic President Woodrow Wilson segregated the previously integrated facility beside the White House, now called the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. Source: The Chicago Defender, October 15, 1932 “Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 9, 1916, the toilets in the state, war, and navy department buildings will be allotted for use as toilets . . . For Women . . . For White Men . . . [and] For Colored Men,” read the actual segregation order. It was signed by none other than the assistant secretary of the Navy, Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Democrats sank U.S. Representative Leonidas Dyer’s (R., Mo.) Anti-Lynching Bill. This measure — which would have made lynching a federal crime and shielded blacks from being hanged in trees — passed the Republican-controlled House in January 1922. Outrageously, Senate Democrats filibustered it that November. And the lynchings roared on.

Democratic President Franklin Roosevelt nominated former Klansman Hugo Black to the Supreme Court in 1937. After letting his supporters claim that he never associated with the KKK, Justice Black eventually confessed that he had joined the Klan and earned a “gold passport” or life membership.

Democrats stood shoulder to shoulder for decades with the late U.S. senator and former Klansman Robert Byrd (D., W.Va.). As the Washington Post explained, Byrd recruited 150 Klansmen for the Crab Orchard, W.Va., KKK. His local chapter unanimously elected him “Exalted Cyclops.” Byrd wrote the KKK’s Imperial Wizard in 1946: “The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia.” Democrats ignored all of this and embraced Byrd as their Senate leader as recently as 1989. Hillary Clinton called Byrd “my friend and mentor.” At Byrd’s July 2010 funeral, President Obama eulogized this hatemonger: “It seems to me that his life bent toward justice.”;

Compare Democrats’ half century of solidarity with Byrd, an actual Ku Klux Klan leader, with their unbridled, race-fueled vitriol against Attorney General Jeff Sessions, a non-KKK alumnus man who helped steer Klansman Henry Francis Hays into Alabama’s electric chair. Democrat Theophilus Eugene “Bull” Connor — the über-racist commissioner of public safety in Birmingham, Ala. — arrayed snarling police dogs and high-pressure firehoses against peaceful civil-rights protesters. When he wasn’t busy oppressing blacks, Connor served as one of Alabama’s two representatives on the Democratic National Committee.

Democrats filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Senator Robert “KKK” Byrd decried this measure on the Senate floor for 14 hours, as did other Southern Democrats. Senator Everett Dirksen (R., Ill.) finally mustered enough votes to break the Democrats’ filibuster, but Byrd and 22 other Southern Democrats still spurned America’s cornerstone civil-rights legislation. Nonetheless, the bill passed, and Democratic President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed it into law.

Democrats furnished ten of the eleven votes against Thurgood Marshall as America’s first black Supreme Court justice. These ten were joined in August 1967 by Senator Strom Thurmond (R., S.C.), a former segregationist Democrat who turned GOP. Despite recent liberal claims that Dixiecrats morphed into Republicans, Thurmond is the only prominent one who did. Notorious segregationists such as Governors Orval Faubus of Arkansas and George Wallace of Alabama and Senators J. William Fulbright of Arkansas and Albert Gore Sr. of Tennessee died as Democrats.

Democrats today frequently deliver this humiliating insult: Blacks are too feeble and benighted to present ID cards at the polls (although it’s apparently okay to demand ID of blacks at airports, banks, federal buildings, and even to buy anti-cold remedies). Democrats claim that blacks are less likely than whites to carry ID cards. If so, why haven’t Democrats led the charge to secure every undocumented black American an ID card, to facilitate full participation in modern life? Instead, Democrats do next to nothing to empower the ultimate little guys — blacks who lack ID. Rather, they deploy this vulnerable population as human shields against Republican ballot-integrity efforts.
Meanwhile, Democrats routinely belittle blacks as too collectively pathetic to possess photo ID cards.

Senate Democrats unanimously opposed Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. As an advocate and donor for school choice and educational excellence, DeVos has done far more than the average Senate Democrat to boost the life prospects of low-income black kids. However, these lawmakers’ masters in the teachers’ unions hate DeVos and her reformist ideas. So, on February 7, Senate Democrats all rejected her confirmation — educationally abandoned black children be damned. Democrats rarely admit to any of the above, and their bodyguards in the Old Guard media rarely bother them with any of these inconvenient truths. What a shame. Henceforth, Black History Month — and the rest of the year — should include a much more sustained focus on the countless ways that Democrats have held down black Americans for centuries — and still do.

Dear President Trump,

Congratulations on your inauguration and the early steps in launching many of your campaign promises.  United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE), a nationwide grassroots organization of education advocates and activists, is looking forward to working with you and Secretary DeVos to MAKE EDUCATION GREAT AGAIN. We are formally reaching out to you and your team to offer our years of research and insights from parents and educators on behalf of America’s children to assist your efforts to restore local control of education. 

Ending Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and eliminating the Department of Education will require the repeal of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and a replacement strategy.  It appears there is significant support for the idea of establishing a network of school options that offer parents real choice in the education of their children.  All children are different and many do not thrive in the traditional public school model.  The structure of this network of choice, the means of funding and the Federal accountability mandates will significantly impact the quality, depth and breadth of the options available.

As CATO Institute found in their 2010 research*, Federal funding options, including vouchers and Education Savings Accounts (ESA’s), drive Federal accountability regulations into the schools.  Regulations including onerous testing mandates, intrusive data collection mandates, teacher certification mandates, standards & curriculum mandates, all have the potential for negative impacts on learning options.  Classical curriculum, Arts-based curriculum, technology-free, professional teacher delivery, paper & pencil assessments, and others become impossible options as they do not comply with mandated national standards supported by mandated standardized (CCSS compliant) testing.

We do not support school choice that imposes Federal mandates on private or home schools or restricts true choice in public schools.

We support the complete repeal of ESSA in order to open a free market approach to education. Parents would be free to choose their school, including the curriculum, the delivery, and the testing process.  American education would be more accountable to parents and the local community, not to the state or federal government.  This can only be achieved through a significant reduction of the Federal role in education.

Do you Remeber?

 In the White house we have a President that seems to be what we wished for. Yes he is not a pure conservative but;when we marched in 2009 we wanted smaller government. We wanted a government that was living by the Constitution, a government that was taking actions to grow the economy.On my sweat shirt it is printed "A pro-lifer in the House" in front of a draing of our nations White House.
Trump is not a pure conservative but he is a lot of what we wanted.
