U.N. Will Hold Summit To Fight Warming But Not To Defeat Terror

Priorities: The Paris climate summit begins Monday amid demands that something be done about the warming "threat." Yet a more serious danger — Islamic terrorism — gets no similar conference of its own. This is madness.
The United Nations can turn out the people when it wants to. As many as 40,000 are expected for the 21st session of the Conference of Parties to the U.N.'s Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will run through Dec. 11.
There will be more than 190 nations represented, and at least 140 national leaders will attend, all sounding important but none doing anything of real substance.
But that's the point. These summits are for show. Every speaker, presenter and expert in Paris will expound endlessly on the evils of climate change, and they will all agree that the problem cannot be ignored.
Too bad the U.N. can't work up the same sort of exuberantly hyped, large-scale conference to create a committed and serious-minded coalition that will snuff out terrorism.
We understand, though. That would require hard work and genuine dedication.
Fighting global warming is easy, though. It's not a real enemy. It didn't kill and maim hundreds in Paris earlier this month.
No one knows, nor will ever know, if man-made climate change even exists outside of imaginative thinking and flawed computer models. So no one can ever know if it's defeated or not.
But climate change is a handy windmill for leaders to tilt against. Their sincere opposition to it makes them look, they think, like heavyweight statesmen and global superstars seeking a solution.
This also happens on the national stage. Fred Barnes has observed in the Weekly Standard that "President Obama and Democrats can't stop talking about" climate change. Obama has even called the Paris global warming summit "a powerful rebuke to the terrorists" because they will see the world stand "as one."
Could a president have ever uttered a more cynical statement than that? It has to be an effort to intentionally mislead and obscure, because no one could truly believe those words.
Yet the political left yearns to hear them, and Democrats happily supply them. Meanwhile, a real threat that has killed thousands of innocents and threatens to kill thousands more gets no U.N. summit.
Yes, we've heard that climate change causes terrorism. No, we don't believe that is anywhere near reality.
The Paris climate summit does not serve the dual purpose of fighting both global warming and terrorism. It's primary purpose is to provide presidents, prime ministers, premiers and thousands of global bureaucrats with a forum to pretend that they're doing something.
The meeting is a vehicle, as well, for those who spend the rest of the year using the global warming scare as a weapon to destroy capitalism and install a new economic system across the world.
Worse, leaders from nations that are prosperous thanks to capitalism aid the destroyers by perpetuating the man-made global warming narrative. If only they'd pursue terrorists with the same vigor.

Be Thankful for the Declaration of Independence!

In 1776, fifty-six patriots signed a document that changed history. In 2008, millions of citizens voted for a candidate and that vote changed history. A portion of the principles and ideals in that 1776 Document are;

Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it…….. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations,…………….under absolute Despotism, it is their (the peoples) right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies (States); and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government.” (or President)

That portion of our Declaration of Independence provides the reasoning to change our form of government, and our dissolution from the English Crown. Our current duty is to direct our President, telling him the time has come for him to listen or go. If his executive fiats and orders are not cause for impeachment then the time has come for the people that represent us to send a vitriolic message to the person, Barack Obama, whom few of us know and certainly feel is in opposition to our country. Maybe it is a good time for those who voted, twice, to volunteer to house and financially support these so called refugees.

Will we ever see TAX REFORM?

The Paul And Cruz Flat Tax Plans Are Best Tax Proposal

As we've cheerfully noted on these pages, the good news on the presidential campaign trail is that almost all Republicans are now for serious pro-growth tax reform and simplification. Every candidate wants lower rates (some a one-rate flat tax), fewer loopholes and carve-outs, and a reduced role for an abusive IRS.
What a contrast with Bernie Sanders, who declared at last week's Democratic debate that he could live with a 90% tax rate on the rich. Why not take it all, Bernie?
All the GOP tax plans look good to us — though some are admittedly better than others. The danger now is that too many conservatives have formed a circular firing squad and are shooting down nearly all proposals on purity grounds or attacking trivial differences.
This is the surest way to derail tax reform altogether.
If Ronald Reagan, Jack Kemp and Bill Bradley had held to such a "my way or the highway" approach, the epic 1986 tax reform that collapsed tax rates to 15% and 28% never would have happened.
Which brings us to Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. The two of us helped craft their low-rate flat tax plans.
The plans are similar: Paul's rates are 14.5% on business net sales and wages and salaries. Cruz has a 16% business net sales tax and a 10% wage and salary tax.
These would be the lowest tax rates since the income tax was devised 100 years ago. Both are estimated by the Tax Foundation to grow the economy by a gigantic $2 trillion in extra GDP per year after 10 years.
Both eliminate almost all deductions and special-interest carve-outs. (Against our wishes, they retain the tax write-off for charitable organizations and have family deductions that are too big. But no one's perfect.)
They completely kill the corporate tax, the estate tax and the FICA payroll tax.
Yet conservatives are strangely griping. Economists at the Cato Institute have joined with Larry Kudlow to complain that the business tax is a value-added tax (VAT). Such a dreaded tax, they fear, would be a giant new source of revenue and lead to government gone wild, as has happened in Europe.
That's the last thing we want.
But nearly all leading flat-tax plans have some form of VAT to replace the god-awful corporate income tax. If these plans didn't eliminate the corporate tax entirely, and the new tax was a European-style add-on VAT, we'd be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Kudlow in denouncing them

What Does the CIA Know that the Pope Doesn't?

According to Pope Bergoglio, Capitalism and "Climate Change" are the two greatest threats to mankind.

(Not to our souls' salvation, which we render unto God; but to our physical beings, which we render unto Caesar)

Yet the State Department has just warned Americans for their physical safety not to travel to the Vatican:

The United States Embassy in Italy has issued a security alert to all Americans abroad, warning them to avoid locations that have been identified as potential targets for terrorist attacks. At the top of the short list is “St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City (Rome).”

So what does Caesar know that the Pope doesn't?

Our current duty is to direct our Senators and Representative to send a letter to our President telling him the time has come for him to listen or go. If his executive fiats and orders are not cause for impeachment then the time has come for the people that represent us to send a vitriolic message to the person, Barack Obama, whom few of us know and certainly feel is in opposition to our country.

I'm 77 and totally agree with this person!

I'm 73 and I'm Tired  

This should be required reading for every man, woman
and child in the UK, in the U.S.A, Canada,
Australia and New Zealand

I'm 73  
Except for one
semester in college when jobs were scarce and a
six-month period when I was between jobs, but
job-hunting every day, I've worked,
hard,
  since I was 18.
Despite some health challenges, I still put in
50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in
seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but
I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I
worked to get where I am. Given the economy,
there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired.
Very tired.

 
I'm tired of being told
that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who
don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being
told the government will take the money I
earned, by force if necessary, and give it to
people too lazy to earn it.

 
I'm tired of being told
that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every
day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men
killing their sisters, wives and daughters for
their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over
some slight offense; of Muslims murdering
Christian and Jews because they aren't
"believers;" of Muslims burning schools for
girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims
to death for "adultery;" of Muslims mutilating
the genitals of little girls; all in the name of
Allah, because the Qur'an and Sharia law tells them to.

 
I'm tired of being told
that, out of "tolerance for other cultures," we
must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund
mosques and madrassah Islamic schools to preach
hate in America and Canada, while no American
nor Canadian group is allowed to fund a church,
synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to
teach love and tolerance..

 
I'm tired of being told I
must lower my living standard to fight global
warming, which no one is allowed to debate.


I'm tired
 of being told
that drug addicts have a disease, and I must
help support and treat them, and pay for the
damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a
dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up
their noses while they tried to fight it off?

 
I'm tired of hearing
wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians
of both parties talking about innocent mistakes,
stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we
all know they think their only mistake was
getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense
of entitlement, rich or poor.

 
I'm real tired of people who
don't take responsibility for their lives and
actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the
government, or discrimination or big-whatever
for their problems.
  
Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to
be 73.. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have
to see the world these people are making. I'm
just sorry for my granddaughters and grandson.
