Cure the national debt? Who will be, or would be, brave enough to take on the task?
There is one subject we must consider. How many people does the United States government employ and at what cost? Our Congress, House and Senate has an interest in the dollars to employment.
Click on the above link. When it shows up on your screen enlarge the picture (press ctrl and the += keys at the same time). Now count some of the cars that probably represent a little more than one employee per automobile. As an example each row is two cars facing each other and is at least twenty spaces wide, by twenty rows in the foreground lot. That represents about eight hundred cars, some of which are possibly government cars at the cost of a lease, at least. If the there are (2cars by 20 paces x 20 rows) 800 or more employees at an annual cost of about one hundred thousand dollars for wages and overhead. The overhead will include some cell phones and computers, as well as security clearance and annual surveillance. The estimated cost is 80 million dollars per year.
But wait, there are North, South, East and West parking lots. That represents about 320 million dollars for employment and overhead costs. This photograph is the NSA. There are about 80 plus or minus government agencies, with out the army navy and air force. Does the employment cost approach 2.5 billion dollars? Now add to this amount the costs for all of the federal handouts and include the dollars handed to the state and municipalities.
Yes, maybe this is, or approaches, accurate. You can find many faults with the simplified approach but there is a major question.
HOW WILL WE EVER SHRINK THE GOVERNMENT< OR CAN IT BE DOWNSIZED?
Remember each congressperson and senator has a vested interest in their district's share of the federal budget, the great pot of money.
