POLITICS IN SOUTH JERSEY.

Have the residents of Gloucester County noticed their mail contents. There is a glossy double sided two page notice from our Freeholders. It contains an advertisement for “Serving Seniors”, an event planned for December 3, 4, 10 and 11. The circular is endorsed with group photos of the Freeholders. This is a well prepared four pages timed for the election to be held on November 5, 2019. As one of the tax payers I wonder how much this freeholder advertisement cost while I hope it was paid for with campaign funds rather than our County’s budget.

There is a book by Ambrose Peirce, titled “The Devil’s Dictionary”. The author originally titled the work “the Cynic’s Word Book”. Many words are provided with a cynical definitions and relative poems and passages.

“Politics, n. A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage.”

“Politician, n. An eel in the fundamental mud upon which the superstructure of organized society is reared. When he wiggles he mistakes the agitation of his tail for the trembling of the edifice. As compared with the Statesman, he suffers the disadvantage of being alive.”

How appropriate is the time of our freeholder advertising themselves.

Just think about the NATIONAL impeachment process, which is definitely a political process. The oppositions to Trump, our President, are the mud flung by the tails of the eels.
