We the legal residents of the State of NJ request that you do not support Bill # S2479

"Tuition Equality Act"; allows certain students to qualify for in-State tuition rates at public institutions of higher education.

Reasons you should not support this Bill.

* A subsidized seat for illegal aliens is a seat that is not available to a child of a citizen and legal residents of New Jersey. Where is your compassion for those of us who are paying the school bills and your salaries.

*Once again NJ State legislators are considering a bill which ignores the interest of tax paying legal residents and ignoring the financial burden you are placing on us. We have a broken immigration system because government officials like your selves have not seen to it that our nation’s immigration laws have been enforced.

* Unless the State of New Jersey is prepared to offer in-state tuition to any legal resident from any state, which we are sure you aren’t because it was not mentioned in Bill # S2479, you will then be in violation of “The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996” which specifies: Ignorance of the law is no defense so read the fine print here.
“Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident.”

Granting in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens would only serve to further damage and strain delicate budgets and impose additional burdens on taxpayers, who heavily subsidize post-secondary public education, to make up the loss. Schools, students, and taxpayers should not be made to bear such a burden, especially considering illegal aliens have flagrantly broken our immigration laws and have no legal right to reside in the U.S.

Universities are able to provide citizen and legal resident students in-state tuition rates because public colleges and universities are heavily subsidized by taxpayer money. Remember where that money comes from as most of you vote to spend our money like drunken sailors.

As usual if the shoe fits wear it.

Flip flops are available for those who want to switch to our side.
They are available in the Governors office.
